Questions and Answers

Miracles Childbirth Services:

I want to Inspire, Educate, Encourage and Empower woman and families to take control over their healthcare and their baby's care, to understand the questions to ask and to understand that empowerment comes from making informed decisions. The only way to make informed decisions is to communicate with the care providers while understanding the pro's and con's of care and choices and then to take responsibility for decisions based on informed consent and understanding.

What makes your classes different?

What makes your classes different?

  • I teach private classes or in other words I do not teach in a hospital setting. This gives me autonomy to teach you based on what your needs and questions are while using resources that are evidence based.
  •  I am able to change my classes in a moments notice to meet the participants needs or rather I am not teaching from a specific or set outline.
  • I am also able to teach a broader view and give you more resources and information.
  • My classes are held in a private home setting that is comfortable and relaxing.
  • There are very few classes where you can gain insight to all phases of pregnancy including early pregnancy, there are few classes that offer as much nutrition information as I do, there are few classes that offer newborn care, breastfeeding information and newborn care all for one cost.
  • I give very valuable resources, books and information in my class.
  • There is plenty of time in my classes to share and gain insight from the other participants I am not on a ridged timeline.
  • I offer nutritious snacks and drinks during the majority of my classes.
  • I have a well rounded view of childbirth regardless of birth place or birth attendant.
  • I offer a lot for the cost and my classes are fun as well as enlightening!
  • I teach you as much as I know and that we have time for based on what you want to know and what is the typical should know stuff, teach you how to communicate your questions and wishes and teach you to use everything you have learned along with your instincts during labor, birth and parenting instead of a specific style or technique. You will gain many skills in this class and have many resources and insights to pull from when you need to.

I have a toddler and I can't find a sitter, can I bring my toddler?

If there is anyone who understands having children and either not wanting to leave them or not being able to find a sitter that would be me! I am fine with you bringing your toddler to class, the more the merrier.

I am worried I may miss a class and I hate to pay the money then miss anything.

If you need to miss a class I will do my best to put you in another class that relates to the one you missed before you have your baby. If time is an issue or I can't find a class to let you take I will do my best to work something out with you.

Where are classes held?

How long have you been teaching?

I started teaching Childbirth classes in 2002. I have been speaking to groups since 1998 on a variety of subjects including Homebirth.

You have had homebiths and hospital births, Who is your class for?

My classes are taylored for the participants of that class. Although there is a general outline, i sit down before each class series starts and go over all the registrations and decide what area's of the class need tobe changed or added to so that everyone's needs can be met. My classes are also for any couple that wants to learn how to better communicate with their provider regardless of type of provider, those who want to better understand their body, their role, the process of pregnancy, labor, birth, postpartum and breastfeeding, those who want to better know how to prepare for their birth regardless of where they plan to give birth.

You will not be judged by me in my class for choice in care provider or place of birth, I will however be honest with you about what to expect and choices, options and typical protocol  based on style of provider and choice of birth place.

Where did you get your childbirth Education training at?

I took a hospital Lamaze class with my second child and with my third child I took a Childbirth class at the hospital from a nurse that did not have a specific training. With my third child I also took a Breastfeeding class at the local hospital and a newborn basics class. When my third child was born I started attending LLL and still do. After the birth of my third child I started reading every pregnancy, fertility, herbal,  and breastfeeding book I could get my hands on. In 1998 I took a DONA Doula course, became a certified DONA doula and started practicing as a doula. In 2000 I hosted and attended a ALACE Doula course and became certified with them as I continued to do doula work. In 2002 I trained and studied to become a ALACE CBE and have been teaching ever since. I have also been furthering my knowledge of Childbirth in many other area's since that time.
